Moshimoshi was born from a simple frustration: our kids needed a way to call grandma, but we weren’t ready to hand them a smartphone.

We looked at the options. Smartwatches felt gimmicky. Tablets were overkill. Basic mobile phones still had browsers and app stores — the same rabbit holes we were trying to avoid. The humble landline, the thing we grew up with, had quietly disappeared from most homes.

So we brought it back.

Moshimoshi is a modern take on the home phone — designed specifically for children. Your child gets their own number and a beautifully simple handset. You control who they can call, when they can call, and how long the phone is active. Everything else is locked out by design.

No browser. No camera. No social media. No way for strangers to reach your child. Just the joy of picking up a phone and hearing a familiar voice.

Built for families, not just kids

We designed Moshimoshi from the parent’s perspective too. The parent app is simple and fast — add a contact in 30 seconds, set bedtime hours in one tap. You’ll get a notification when your child makes or receives a call, and you can see a full history any time.

Moshimoshi runs over your home broadband connection using the same technology that powers business phone systems worldwide. There’s no SIM card, no cellular contract, no extra line rental. Just your existing internet and a small monthly subscription.

Where we are today

We’re an Australian startup, currently in early access. Our first devices are shipping to families across Australia. We’re a small team who care deeply about getting this right — building technology that brings families closer without the risks that come with connected devices.
